#2 Breach & Clear Forum Rules

Posted by ThePraetorian on 09 November 2012 - 07:14 PM

Posting on Breach & Clear Forums

Membership within this forums is a privilege, not a right. We expect all members to abide by directions given to them by the administrative and moderating staff.

-Ben Strauss, Community Manager

General Rule of Thumb: Remember the golden rule; please treat others as you would wish to be treated by others within this community. We are all members here, we all wish to be treated nicely, and we all want to have a good time here.

Please Post with Purpose: Be advised, we do offer areas to blow off steam and generally horse around, but in areas that are meant to be serious, we wish for you to post with intent, rather than simply 'up' your post count. This helps weed out spam, keep discussions on topic and gets information out there quicker.

Hate Speech: No matter how we put it, hate speech will not be tolerated on this forum. The administrative team has the complete discretion to handle and suspend/ban any account that breaks this rule, regardless of standing within the community. Usage of words such as racist or hateful terms are generally meant to be used as a derogatory insult towards others. The context/appropriateness/negativity implicit with usage of such words can and will be taken into consideration, though it is 100% completely up to the Breach & Clear Forum staff to handle offending accounts.

Trolling/Flaming/Bashing: Bashing, excessive trolling and general negativity is something this forum expressly wishes to leave out within this community, while we can understand general horsing around between members, we encourage the community to look out for one another. We enjoy and encourage joking, but we ask you keep it at a reasonable level. Please be mindful of what you say and how you treat others.

General Disagreements: Debates are going to happen, people will disagree. We ask you keep it civil and remember that everyone has an opinion, everyone has their personal experiences and not all of us are the same. We encourage in-depth analysis, point/counter-point debates, but we stress that you refrain from entering the land of hate speech and flaming/trolling. Passing that line is when staff steps in. What we're saying is; be rational.

Usage of Breach & Clear Forums

Introductions: All members who intend to post on these forums are required to post an introduction. Think of it as a way to get to know people here within the site. It's a chance for you to get out there and be a part of this community.

Announcements / Stickies: Each forum and sub-forum present within the site will have their own announcements and stickies. Read them. Abide by them. Learn from them.

Account / Computer Usage: One Account. One Computer. We will not allow Alternate Accounts.

Avatar / Signature: Avatars have a set sizing, so that will take care of itself, but we ask that you keep signatures to one image per account. We ask you try to keep the signature image size to around 550x200. Anything deemed 'too large' at the discretion of the staff will be removed and a note will be left asking to change signature. You may add up to three lines of text on your signature as well. Shameless self-promotion of any product/service that you make money off of is asked to gain approval from the mod staff. NOTE: Admins/Mods will have specific avatars; no other user may use these, or a close approximation of these avatars as it helps with quicker identification.

Offsite Representation: A single text link on your signature is allowed to represent another forum, web-comic  game or For-Profit organization. We ask you contact the administrative team for permission to post links on threads. Current Partners have separate forum sections in which they may post at their own discretion.

Private Messages (PM): We ask that private messages remain private, though if excessive harassment is being made, please contact the administrative or moderating team.

Alternate Accounts: Usage of Alternate Accounts by members is strictly prohibitive, even funny ones. While we do find them hilarious, most Alt accounts are generally designed to evade bans and harass members. Those accounts will be instantly banned and host accounts with them.

Forum Invasions: As zealous as forums are, the Breach & Clear forums strictly prohibits anyone from planning or attempting to plan an invasion on another website. Permanent bans will be handed out to all offenders.

Illegal Software / Programs / Files: No Warez, no hosting, no links to pirated content, no links to content meant for For-Profit gain. Do not discuss illegally obtained material, do not recommend it. This content includes, but is not limited to: Programs, CD-Keys, key gens, cracks, music files (.mp3, .wav, etc.)

Attempts to Circumvent Rules: Simply put, this forum is run by the administrative team with moderators placed to help as well. This team is trusted to perform their job, and will do so at their discretion, with administrative oversight. While we can give you a general idea of following the rules, every now and then something happens that simply is not accounted for. This team will follow guidelines to ensure as fair a user experience as possible is offered.

Member Expectations Towards Admins/Moderators: Users are more than welcome to provide complaints/comments geared towards the moderating team. We are here to make this forum as fun and enjoyable for every single user, and will do everything to keep things livened. That does not mean users may threaten, harass or engage in trolling rhetoric to get their point across. A respectful attitude goes a long way, for both parties.

#958 Spreadsheet

Posted by TyRee42 on 07 August 2013 - 12:22 AM

I don't know about you, but trying to compare gear flipping back and forth from piece to piece on my iPad isn't very productive.

So for my personal use I've copied the specs of each Weapon and Attachment in to a spreadsheet (other gear to come later).  I decided others on here might be like-minded, looking at you RawDawg, so I shared it via Google Docs.  I'm still exploring the capabilities of Google Docs; I'm much more proficient with Micro$oft products.  But I want to use a platform anyone can access.  Depending on how much time I get away from playing B&C, I plan on having a separate worksheet where I can choose a base weapon, add attachments, and see the final output data before actually buying anything ingame.

Depending on the response of the community, I might be able to work some graphs or other requests.  I'll be giving a select few Edit access to help maintain it from patch to patch.

Mods/Devs -- if this is not kool, just let me know, and I'll remove the public view access, ASAP.

#2060 Ideas Looking Forward

Posted by Raw 2 Dawg 2 on 15 September 2013 - 11:52 AM

OK Praetorian, in AA Report you wanted to hear about things we were looking forward to and ideas for improvements.  Here's my list...of course I'm no designer or coder.  I'm just an avid fan and I LOVE what you've done so far so these are just food for thought.

To me this is a must to keep this game fresh and exciting at higher levels.  In it's current state, there are no consequences for poor tactical decisions aside from starting over.  Essentially every mission, regardless of difficulty, is just a training exercise that will repeat if failed.  Training for what?  Well, ideally a real mission in which an operative who is downed and not revved will be removed from the roster.

Having a roster of…say maybe 6-8 operatives to a squad would greatly allow for some play style flexibility and also provide another level of personalization.  It would tie in nicely with perma deaths.

If you want this thing to take off, you really need to get some MP in there.  You've essentially created a tactical football game where players can plot their moves and then watch how they play out against each other.  You gotta grab hold of this opportunity.  Figure it out.  Make it work. It will take B&C to the next level!  (then also make a football game)

Right now, Mk18 Mod0 kitted for rapid fire is the obvious choice for clearing all missions regardless of difficulty or squad experience.  We need some kind of balance to make stealth or long range a must for successful missions.  In it's current state, that one gun is really all that you need.

Make some missions where detection will result in severe consequences, like heavily armored reinforcements.  Allow slow stealth play with silent weapons and half speed movement a must to sneak up on tangos.  Maybe if detected they will run for a wall alarm, better have that button covered my another soldier if they make a run for it?  Perhaps we need a Detection or Times Heard metric at the mission end for tracking?

That fan made art with SWAT and an Airport level on Facebook was great, lots of great stuff can be done here.  I can't wait to see what you guys have coming in the future!

Lets be able to re-stack at doors in a level for another Breach & Clear.  Maybe some walls can be indicated in a level where a breach charge can blast a hole in it.

Basically there are 8 guns and a bunch of pre-builds named.  Loose all the weird named guns and create a menu system similar to grouping apps in iOS.  Touch a base gun and the window opens up with all your builds to choose from.

Allow us to clean up the old stuff we don't want to use any more.

We need an additional layer of movement control like a pause or micro timer at waypoints to help sync up actions in the phase.

Added action cam that plays on the final kill of a mission.

Fixed incorrect name for bought Hi Powered Rifles.
Fixed audio settings to be restored when app is restarted.

I think he's suggesting that all the iOS users should go spam the iTunes Connect forums

#1923 Red Line on bomb defusal?

Posted by Gist Hunter on 07 September 2013 - 09:07 AM

Just thought I would bring this to the Devs attention. I'm getting this across the screen on bomb defusal missions. This is on a iPad 4.

#219 Stack order

Posted by ThePraetorian on 24 July 2013 - 06:01 PM

In the breaching menu, slide your portraits around to denote your breaching order.

Should be labelled better, but that will take care of your problems ;)!

#319 Music from Breach & Clear!

Posted by TheTerrorist on 26 July 2013 - 02:56 PM

I love the music in this game it sounds military with a slower more relaxed pace. It makes you sad when you loose all your soldiers and it plays the slow light song. :'(

#2512 What do you want to see in the next update?

Posted by Gist Hunter on 25 October 2013 - 05:57 AM

iCloud  option - iPad 5 released date 5th November - but I'll have to keep my 4 or start again with B&C.

Just got there, 1000 stars. Man that felt groovy. Sorry, I'm not by definition a bragger, but as I look through Gamecentre, I've currently got the most stars. First time I've ever been that fast or good!

Now to get the maximum before the achievements are released :)

Alrighty Forum goers, time for a fun challenge that we think will mix things up a bit!

This week, we want to see your best breach. This can be accomplished in-game, or in the real world through pics, videos or art.

Show us what you got! The winner(s) will each receive Breach & Clear patches, plus a few extra to give to their friends!

Good luck!

#144 Suggestions/ Critical Feedback

Posted by Bronxsta on 23 July 2013 - 05:27 PM

I didn't see any official thread or sections for this, so I thought I'd start one. And the devs would probably appreciate having user suggestions, etc consolidated under one thread

I'll get the ball rolling. If anyone's interested, post as well. This isn't for general impressions, but for suggestions for certain features that would add to the game or critical feedback on areas that could be improved

#1297 Some Last Kill Cam Shots...

Posted by DeathByBreach on 11 August 2013 - 12:51 AM

I thought I'd share some of my last kill screen shots. Love this update.

I had to crop some to meet the forum's file size limit.

#1255 Buckyman1 How I done it.

Posted by Gist Hunter on 10 August 2013 - 05:50 AM

Buckyman1's post below shows how important the roles are in your team so,     (could have posted this there, but didn't want to hijack his thread)

On to another can we have for the devs, how about being able to choose your operators from a roster allowing you to design a team for specific maps / objectives.

It would also give the flexibility to create teams along the lines of JSOC Task Forces and NATO Special Operations

#1131 Week 2 Contest: SureFire Hat and Breach & Clear patch up for grabs!

Sweet hell, 12 seconds!  Well, Bucky you have shown your tactical planning quality!  I guess it's time to sit down and plan an actual heist.
